Rising Number of Children Needing Their Teeth Pulled In Hospitals

A charity, British Dental Health Foundation said some parents are not paying enough attention to the importance of their children’s teeth.

NHS figures show children needing their teeth pulled is increasing at an concerning rate. It showed that:

Three years ago 22,574 children aged five to nine were admitted for rotting teeth, but provisional figures for the year beginning April 2013 show they have climbed to 25,812.

Incorrect diets, getting sugary drinks and non-oral hygiene regime are all contributing factors.

The charity has advised that children should be encouraged to drink more water. It helps with their Oral health and helps reduce obesity.
