PUPILS BEGIN ‘TOUGH’ NEW NATIONAL CURRICULUM

As many more schools start today and our children begin their new year, they will be introduced to a new ‘tough’ national curriculum. According to the report that I read from BBC education online, ‘Five year olds will learn fractions and computer coding while those in early secondary school will have to study at least 2 Shakespeare plays.
This new look curriculum apparently has stronger emphasis on skills such as Essay writing, problem-solving, mathematical modelling and computer programming.
Parents please note that children going into Year 2 and Year 6 this year will continue with the old curriculum in English, Mathematics and Science as they take their SATs as usual and in the same format.
