Key stage 1 SATS (Year 2 Pupils)

At the age of 7, our children are required to take tests. There is absolutely no pressure put on our young children at this stage. These tests are primarily to enable teachers to learn more about the strengths and weaknesses of each individual pupil. Each child will normally have followed the Literacy and Numeracy syllabus as laid down by the government so they will be ready to take these tests.

There is no result of ‘pass’ or ‘fail’. The aim of the test at this stage is to let you know how well your child is progressing in relation to national expectations; to tell the next school or teacher what each child needs to learn next; and to inform each school about how well it is teaching aspects of the National Curriculum.
