Importance of Homework

Homework gives us a chance to be involved in our children’s learning and really reinforces what our children are learning at school. The variety and level of homework depends on your child’s class year and school.

Between Reception and Year 2 (Key Stage 1), reading is the most important homework, that is why your child would often bring a book back home and you’d be required to sign a book log in some form. Spellings and simple time tables are also started at this stage as well. It helps to read together at this stage and get your child excited about doing his/her homework.

Remember that the key to the progress of your children’s homework is more about understanding the work than the time spent on the work.
