Back To School Week

Dear Amazing Parents,

Welcome to our BACK TO SCHOOL week. I trust you all had a wonderful summer break.

By today, most of our Tweens and Teens have gone back to school and hopefully settled in.

One of the principles that I abide with and always recommend that parents do is to set up with ‘Start of Term meetings with our children. Honestly just the sound of the word ‘meeting’ gets my teens walking down the stairs majestically. One would think that we had invited them to a pay rise meeting. It makes them feel more grown up that they get to be part of this meeting. I tend to use these moments as a PRESSING THE RESET BUTTON for all of us. I make sure that it is not focused on what we did not achieve but more on what we will achieve and what different thing will we do in this season to make that difference.

A quote comes to mind every time that justifies the above point.

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten. To get a new result, we must all do something new.”

What areas do we as parents need new results in, as we start this new school term?

It is NOT too late to have your first meeting if you have not done so already.  Let’s get the conversations going.

5 REASONS WHY THESE CONVERSATIONS ARE NECESSARY:

  • It acts as a reminder to what our mission and visions are as a family.
  • It gives each child the opportunity to give an account of where they are and what they aim to achieve in the school year.- Goal Setting
  • It is a great opportunity for the whole family to re-focus after the long summer break.
  • It is a great time for questions and concerns to be shared.
  • It is also a great time to bond some more.

Have a great and Fab start to your week.
